Josephine Poindexter Williams, 100 years old, passed away on August 13, 2017 at The Springtree Health and Rehab. She was born on July 28, 1917 in Union Hall, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Williams, a son, John Dexter Williams, 7 brothers and sisters, and a special niece, Sheryl Ervin. Her survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Sink and her husband, Tommy, of Roanoke, VA; grandson, Mark Sink of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Chera Howey and her husband, Greg, of Arnold, MD; special great grandson, Bramwell Thomas Howey; as well as many caring nieces and nephews, including a special niece and frequent visitor, Ina Clements.
Josephine lived a long and happy life. She always had a smile on her face and loved to cook. She was a retired cafeteria worker with the Roanoke County schools and a longtime member of the former Tabernacle Baptist Church, Salem, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 18th, at Lotz Salem Chapel, 2pm with interment immediately following at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service from 12 noon-2pm.
