Dorothy John Stewart

Dorothy John Stewart, 93, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was the daughter of J. Griffith and Cleo Doosing John and lived most of her life in Salem, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leo V. (Buck) Stewart; a daughter, Phyllis Stewart Hannon; a son-in-law, James (Jim) ReMine; and two brothers, Griff and William (Bill) John.

Surviving are her grateful daughter, Susan Stewart ReMine, of Asheville, NC; three grandchildren, Jason ReMine, of Asheville, NC, Kristen ReMine Lyda and her husband, Jonathan, of Bat Cave, NC, and Diana Sidebottom, of Seattle, WA; “Gran” also had one great-grandson, Brad Hannon; Sarah and Elle Walton of Seattle, WA. She also has two sisters, Bernice (Bunny) Harless, of Salem, and Mary Ann (Johnnie) Beagle, of Roanoke, their husbands; a sister-in law, Barbara John, of Salem; several nieces and nephews; and special friends.

A family and friends visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, followed by a graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park.
