On Sunday, April 23, 2017 God called Clinton T. “Tallie” Lawrence home after a long struggle with diabetes and multiple heart problems. He was born June 8, 1928 and was the youngest of 9 children born to Garland T. and Eliza Craighead Lawrence. His brothers were G.W., Gordon, and Calvin Lawrence; sisters, Thursey Reynolds, Mamie Hill, Rita Neighbors and Daisy Jones all who preceded him.
He leaves behind a sister, Irene Flowers; his wife of 61 years, Faye P. Lawrence; son, Jeffrey W. and his wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Meghann Jones and husband, Zack; Taylor and Cameron Lawrence; great grandchildren, Ryan and Hayley Jones, Kaya Lawrence; nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Joyce Terry.
Tallie retired from G.E. after 34 years of service and was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a founding member of the Fort Lewis Rescue Squad. He loved football especially the Salem Spartans for whom he was on the Chain Gang for over 30 years.
Memorial services will be held by Rev. Ben Lockhart on Monday, May 1, 2017, 6 p.m. in the evening at Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Locust Grove United Methodist Church, Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund or the Fort Lewis Rescue Squad.
