Eva Ray Setzer Hoosier

1952 ~ 2019

Eva Hoosier, 67, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2017.  She was born in North Carolina in 1952. Eva attended the North Carolina School of the Deaf-class of 1973.   She was an avid bowler of the Roanoke Valley Blind Bowling League despite being both legally blind and deaf.  She enjoyed socializing with the deaf community at their events.  Also enjoyed traveling with her husband and the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eva is preceded in death by; her parents, Arthur and Eva A. Setzer; siblings, Shelby, Ralph, Arthur Jr., Barbara, Nancy, John;  and child, Richard A. Freeman.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Roy Eugene Hoosier; children, Sylvia Hoosier-Thompson (Christopher), Andy Hoosier, Tina Hoosier (Melissa); grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew), Richard, Leithan, Nicholas, Allyson, Kaidince; great grandchildren, Karmella, Chloe, Scarlet, Makenzie, Eela; sibling, Mary Ann Freeman (Bill).

The family will receive friends Friday, July 19, 2019 from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at Lotz Chapel Salem.  Funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the Chapel.
