William Hubert Pugh

William Hubert Pugh, age 87, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022.  He was raised in the Methodist Church and loved and worshiped Jesus Christ his whole life.  He lived in Roanoke, Va. and Salem, Va. most of his life.  He worked as a salesman at Valley Lumber Company and retired from CMC Supply Inc. as a warehouse manager.  He loved his family and was a friend to everyone he met.  People loved him. 

He was a carpenter who made a coffee table that won the Ford Award while attending Andrew Lewis High School.  Most of his wood works are still used to this day.

When his kids were growing up, he was very active in their recreational and school activities, holding positions on the boards and booster clubs.  After the tornado hit Roanoke in 1974, he was instrumental in getting the volunteers to build a new Concession/Storage building for Northwest Recreation Club at Westside Elementary.  That building is still standing to this day and was dedicated as the W.H. Pugh Fieldhouse. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Jean Light Pugh; daughter, Rebecca Pugh Alley; great grandson; Ronald Gene Durham III (Tre’); parents, Henry Herman Pugh and Lola Keyser Pugh; brother, Robert Henry Pugh; sister, Linda Pugh Lucas.

He is survived by; daughters, Deborah Anne Pugh and Teresa Pugh Ramsey Harris (Allen); son; William Hubert Pugh II (Stacey); grandchildren, Tina Marie Ramsey, Brandon William Ramsey, Krista Dawn Alley, and Madison Skylar Pugh; great grand- children; Destiny Nicole Alley, Teya Jena’e Ramsey, Kellen Michael Alley, MahKenna Ramsey;  great-great granddaughter, Dezariah Nicole Alley; sister, Peggy Pugh Jackson (Nelson), niece, Rachel Elaina Jackson; and numerous other family members.  Special friends and neighbors, Isaac Worsley, Davina and Terence Gardner, and Mildred Thompson and family.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and other employees at Carilion’s 8th South floor for being instrumental in his terrific care and compassion they showed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity or cause of your choice.  He gave to so many charities, to choose one would be unfair to the others. 

Funeral arrangements are provided by Lotz Funeral Home Salem, Virginia.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.  Graveside service will be at  Rose Lawn Cemetery, Christiansburg, Virginia at 11 a.m.  Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
