Vivian M Howell

Vivian M. Howell, 84, of Roanoke passed away at Friendship Health and Rehabilitation Center South on May 31, 2021.

Known to most as Mimi, she was a native of North Carolina and was the daughter of Leo Thomas Martin and Mary Lena Athan Martin, both deceased. Vivian was also preceded in death by her brother, Roscoe T. Martin. She enjoyed baseball and especially attending Salem Red Sox games.

Above all else what was most important to Mimi was her family. Mimi is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Howell Markham and husband Randy; and three grandchildren, Brandon H Journell, J. Tyler Journell (Ellen Best), and Ellisa G Ayers.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held in Sherwood Memorial Park on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 am.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kindred Hospice, especially Jennifer, Candi, Karen and Vivian’s bath aides; the staff of Friendship Health and Rehabilitation Center South, especially Stacey, Amber, Lori, Sarah, Felix, Brite, Angie, Wanda, and Gary; and friends and family who provided support and care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue.
