Velma N. Chapman passed away on March 21, 2019 at the age of 83. She is survived by daughters Kathryn P. Wade, Cynthia P. Filer, Nina P. Meek, son Howard C. Smith II and brother Melvin T. Neill. Also, survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
