Roy Eugene Hoosier, 74, of Roanoke, VA departed this world on October 31, 2021 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, VA. He was born on March 31, 1947 to Charles Ray and Phoebe Jane Blevins (Pennington) Hoosier in Dublin, VA.
He graduated from the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, Staunton, VA. He retired from the Post Office where he worked for many years. He was always active and involved with his friends in the deaf community, which included church gatherings, and social events.
He was a great man, always willing to help anyone in need and seen the good in everyone, a devoted husband, father, and all-around the best family man most people would want to know. He never gave up on anyone.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Ray Setzer Hoosier; parents; brother, Robert Lee Pennington (Ruth); brother, Carly Gene Pennington; brother, Charlie French Hoosier; brother, Od Wayne Hoosier.
He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Ann Hoosier-Thompson (Christopher); son, Andy Elmore Hoosier; daughter, Tina Ella Hoosier (Mel); Grandchildren, Leithan, Samantha (Andrew), Richard, Nicholas (Madison), Allyson, Izabel, and Kaidince; Great Grandchildren, Chloe, Karmella, Scarlett, Eela, Mackenzie, and Olivia; brother, Ray Scott Hoosier (Sally); brother, Wilburn Cecil Hoosier (Della); sister, Minnie Carol Hayes (Tom).
The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
