RONALD LEE SLUSHER

Ronald Lee Slusher passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, December 23rd 2017. Ronnie was a born native of Roanoke and lived out most of his life in Salem, Virginia and retired from Kroger Company after a thirty-six year career. Ronnie was a loving, and devoted father and husband that tirelessly worked hard to provide for his family.

Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents, Eual and George Anna Slusher, brother Edward, sisters Winifred, Sarah, Joan, and Janis. Tragically, Ronnie also lost his oldest son Gary Lee Slusher at a very young age.

Surviving Ronnie are his siblings, Charles Slusher, Margaret Cahill, Linda Lambert, and Diane Shank as well as his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Vetis Elizabeth Slusher. Surviving children are two sons, Larry Ray Slusher with wife Johneta Slusher and Kevin Lynn Slusher with wife Andrea Slusher. Joyfully, Ronnie spent many wonderful years with his four grandchildren Laura Phillips, Kristin Rothbert, Spencer Slusher and Hayden Slusher. Additionally, Ronnie was blessed with three great grand children Peyton Rothbert, Austyn Rothbert, and Tayler Kearns.

A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 27th at 2:00 pm.

The family has respectfully asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation is made in Ronald Slusher’s honor to the Salem Rescue Squad in Salem, Virginia. Ronnie was a tireless supporter and believer in this superb and much needed organization from its very beginnings.
