Richard Conrad Dobe, 55, passed away from a brief but intense battle of pancreatic cancer in the early morning hours of January 15, 2023. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife, Stephanie and oldest daughter, Marisol. Richard is survived and missed by his loving wife Stephanie Dobe (née McClintic) and wonderful children, Marisol Virginia Dobe, Amelia Marie Dobe and Richard Isaac Dobe. He is appreciated, loved, and forever remembered by his siblings Greta Dobe, Erika Dobe and Chris Dobe. His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Nicolasa Dobe, Porter Dobe, Joelle Dobe, Erik Viana and Alex Viana. His young life is remembered by his aunt, Betty Crotts, cousins, Barry Darnell (Karen), Kathy Darnell (Pam) and Jimmy Akers (Tami). His memory will be cherished by the McClintic Family of Roanoke, Virginia. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Dobe and mother, Judith Dobe.
Richard was born in Nairobi, Kenya and grew up travelling the world with his family. He lived in Kenya, Nigeria, New York, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil, with extensive time spent in Israel, France and Switzerland. Richard graduated from Boston University in 1990 with a degree in Political Science. He moved to Roanoke, Virginia in 1995 to care for his mother whom he lovingly regarded. Richard had a passion for good food and was very interested in politics. He loved animals, enjoyed spending time with family, friends and was at his best when outdoors. He adored the sea and sun for his first born was named after both: Marisol. His legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we can control our attitudes and choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and kindness. “Death is not extinguishing the light. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Lotz Funeral Home & Crematory, Salem, Virginia at 2PM. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 1 PM. Live Streaming will be available via Lotz Funeral Home & Crematory.
