PEGGY RATLIFF CARWILE

Peggy R. Carwile, 76, of Salem, Virginia died on Monday, January 1, 2018.
She was born on November 16, 1941 in Chilhowie, Virginia, daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Ratliff.
She graduated from Chilhowie High School in 1959, Learning the Three R’s: Reading, Righten, and the Road to Roanoke.
In 1962, she finished Nursing School at Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, and became a Nurse for Dr. Tice of Weaver, Varvor, and Tice; later becoming a certified O.R. R.N. at the VA retiring after 28 years of VA Service.
Peggy loved love stem red roses. She worked very hard in her three flower gardens, with her African Gray Parrot on her shoulder. She loved camping and walks in the woods with Walker and Izzy, our two rescue dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rev. Elwood E. Carwile; one sister, Kim Campbell and husband, Tom of Chilhowie; one brother, Jack Ratliff and wife, Mary of Chilhowie; one sister in law, Dorothy Lee Carter and husband, Bobby of Bedford; two step sons; many nieces, nephews; one aunt; step grandchildren; and step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, Virginia on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4 to 7pm.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie, Virginia.
Funeral Services follow at 3 pm at Williams Funeral Home.
Graveside services will take place at St. James Lutheran Church.
