PATRICIA ALTIZER JOHNSTON

Patricia Altizer Jones Johnston, age 80, passed away on November 25, 2018. Pat was born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 12, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Robert V. Altizer. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Maude L. Walthall, also known as “Nin”.

Pat graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956 and attended Radford University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Further, Pat attended Hollins University where she obtained her Master’s degree in elementary education. She was an elementary school teacher for the Roanoke City Schools where she enjoyed teaching for 30 years.

Pat was a devoted lover of animals and took pride in rescuing them from shelters. She rescued many dogs and gave each one a great life. She cherished her babies, Abby, Sissy, Brendle, Tinsel, and Marbly. She was an avid supporter of Angels of Assisi, SPCA, and ASPCA.

Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother, Frieda Hiner; son, Kenneth W. Jones, II and wife, Stacy; son, Robert L. Jones and wife, Hope Jones; grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Becky Jones, Amber Jones, and Tyler Jones.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Sherwood Burial Park, Salem, VA with Pastors Tom and Naomi Powers officiating.
