Opal Caldwell Dillon

April 22, 1927 – January 2, 2020

Opal Caldwell Dillon, 92, of Salem passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Calvin Eugene Dillon; sons, Calvin Ray Dillon and Kenneth Eugene Dillon; grandson, Lucas James “Lukie” Dillon; her parents, Looney and Maud Caldwell; several sisters and brothers.

Her surviving family includes sons Gary (Donna); Billy (Melinda); Mark (Patty); daughter Karen (Steve); grandchildren: Michelle (Carl), Brian (Melissa), Scotty (Michelle), Matt (Kim), Lisa (Chris), Gary, Andy (Marley), Levi (Michelle), Caira, Austin; great-grandchildren:  Buddy (Hillary), Daniel (Katelyn), Morgan, Adaline, Brianna, Eva, Ellie, Gavin, Grayson, Grant, Lily, Desmond, Sayde and expecting Rowin in February; great great-grandchildren: Noah, Barrett, Colton,  Remmington, Calvin, Rosalee, Kyla; many nieces and nephews.  And her faithful furry companion, Sage.

Visitation and celebration of life will begin at 12 pm to 2 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020 with a service to follow at 2 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, Salem, VA , with Pastor Hilton Jeffries officiating and Pastor Jeane Dunkam from Lafayette United Methodist Church speaking as well.  Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

We would like to thank the nurses, Sabrina, and staff at The Oaks Richfield and Good Samaritan Hospice for the love and care given to our Mother.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude at (stjude.org).
