Nancy Wood Avery

Nancy Wood Avery, 80, born in Botetourt County, passed away in her Roanoke County home on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey R. Wood and Flora Belle Boothe Wood, brothers Henry Wood and Ronnie Wood, sisters Dorothy Wilkerson, Christine Watson, Joyce Bishop, Gwendolyn Faye McCray, and Sandra Kaye Stacey.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Avery, sons Michael Avery and Christopher Avery, daughter-in-law Sharon Compton Avery, and grandchildren Alexandra and Aaron Avery. She is also survived by brothers Mathew Wood, D.R. Wood, sister Catherine Wood Jollie, aunt Elsie Boothe Trent, and many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Nancy was fond of family gatherings, county music, and wildflowers. She cherished every moment of babysitting her grandchildren.

Her family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 29, from six until eight p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home, 1330 East Main St., Salem, VA.

The funeral service will be on Friday, November 30 at two p.m. at Sherwood Abbey Chapel, in Sherwood Memorial Park, 1250 East Main Street, Salem, VA.
