Marywillie Virginia Bower Hodges, 97, walked into the arms of Jesus on December 26, 2017 at her residence.
She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and so many other roles she lovingly filled.
She was born in Troutville, VA on July 9, 1920 to Otis & Annie (Walker) Bower.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wiley Hodges, her parents, 3 brothers: Harvey (Margaret), Sidney (Kathleen), and Warren (Maxine); 2 nephews: Donnie and Jerry Bower and 2 nieces: Lana Meador and Sandra Lewis.
She is survived by her son, Ernie Hodges and his wife Iris with whom she lived for the past 20 years in Pfafftown, NC. Also left to cherish her memory are 3 grandchildren; Rebekah (Aron), Tabitha and Matthew (Alana); 7 great-grandchildren (Logan, Ale, Aiden, Bella, Gabi, Rome and Roman) all of NC; nephews Van, Greg and Brian Bower, nieces Anita Miles (Frank), Beth (Sam) Smith and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
She was a wonderful cook and a highly valued employee at the Greenwood Restaurant of Troutville. She enjoyed volunteering at the VA Medical Center in Salem, VA, she was a charter member of Cave Rock Church of the Brethren and she loved attending Grace Bible Church in Winston-Salem.
A viewing will be at noon with a celebration of her life to follow at 1 P.M. officiated by Rev. Doug Witt at Community Church at 1923 E. Main St. Salem, VA on December 29, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Grace Bible Church Missions Committee (3904 Woodview Drive Winston-Salem, NC 27106).
