Mary Jane Grisso

Mary Jane Grisso, 92, of Salem went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024.

A native of Virginia she was the wife of the late beloved and dearly missed Emmett Ira “Ike” Grisso for 53 years, she always said after they were married March 17, 1953 “they never realized it was St. Patrick’s Day”. Mary Jane missed her mate Ike every day of her remaining 18 years of life. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy Michael Grisso; her beloved grandparents who raised her and her sister, John and Winnie Byrant; sisters, Helen St. Clair and husband Sam Judy Wright and husband Dean; mother, Blanch Bryant Carter; and father, Charles V. Carter.

Mary Jane was active in her Sunday School class while she was able to attend Green Hill Church of the Brethren. One of her great enjoyments was country music and taking bus trips. She was supportive in raising her children and grandson. Mary Jane was a help mate to her spouse; cooking, cleaning and generally making a comfortable home for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet M. Grisso; sister, Gail Blanchard and husband Ronnie; grandsons, Thomas G. Grisso and wife Amanda and Jeremy Grisso; and eleven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Tuesday April 2, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at Lotz Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
