Martin Wayne Garrett, 66, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Danville, Virginia on August 23, 1951 son of the late Wayne and Elsie Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Perkins; and lifelong friend and companion, Bonnie Keen Garrett.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Freese (Bret Freese); grandchildren, Christopher Harvey (Rachelle Harvey), Angela Harvey, Samantha Sheppard Harvey; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Nella, and Bella; as well as his brother, Larry Garrett; and loving nephews, Daryl Perkins II and Matthew McGhee (Sarah McGhee); and many loving extended family and friends.
Martin was a lifelong trucker until he became disabled. He found comfort in country music radio and the joy of playing APA Pool with so many friends and teammates. He always had a story to tell and a hug to give. All who knew him was blessed to be a part of his journey.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home Salem at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7 p.m.
