Martha Caroline Spicer Brooks Cosby

Martha Caroline Spicer Cosby was born on January 25, 1925.  She went to the arms of the Lord on May 26, 2019.  She grew up in Richmond, VA., and received a degree from the Medical College of Virginia and worked as a lab technician.  This is where she acquired the nickname, “Mouse”.  She married Ervin P. Brooks on November 22, 1950.  They moved to Salem, VA., shortly after Ervin graduated from MCV with a degree in Pharmacy.  This marriage produced three children, Trey, Cameron and Suzanne.  She worked as the bookkeeper for many years at Brook-Byrd Pharmacy.  She also donated many hours as a volunteer at Lewis Gale Hospital and she had a good circle of friends with whom she played bridge and also went to Virginia Beach. 

Later in life she married Bob Cosby.  She very much enjoyed her time with him.

She will be missed by all who remembered her humor and the way she enjoyed life to the fullest.

She is survived by Ervin Brooks and her three children.

A Memorial service will be held at Lotz Salem Chapel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019.  She will be cremated and her ashes will be placed in the Columbarium at Salem Presbyterian Church.
