Mae Sunshine “Sunny” Hunt Saunders was called home to Heaven on December 17, 2018. She was able to spend her last hours at her home.
She was born in Stanleytown, Virginia on December 30, 1928 to Mary Frances Cundiff Hunt and James Allen “Allie” Hunt. Deceased family members include her parents, husband Lawrence Edward Saunders, sisters Alease “Alice” Hunt Hammock and Vedna “Sis” Hunt Shively Wiggington. Survivors include daughter Shiela (George) Cuadrado and their children Kimberly (Chris) Gibson, Eric Cuadrado, and Lori Cuadrado (Rachel), and daughter Sheryl (Steve) Tanner and their children Elizabeth Hughes and Philip (Deanna) Tanner. Great grandchildren are: Skyler Hope, Kai, a great grandchild due in January 2019, Abigail, Anna, Addison, and Bailey Mae. Sister Ruby Katherine “Kathleen" Hunt Lineberry Sebra, brother Tazewell “Reggie" (Pat) Hunt, and friend Charlie McCormick also survive her. Also friends and neighbors who were family to her and assisted her in so many ways: Jackie and Ronnie Westmoreland, and Judy Langenhorst.
The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, 1330 E Main Street, Salem on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 11:00 am until Noon.
A funeral service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Salem at Noon on Saturday following the visitation. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.

Mae was a member of CommUNITY Church, Salem.
