Tribute

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.  It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”  -Vivian Greene

“If beauty school taught me anything it was that I can eat chips and smoke cigarettes at the same time and that is so valuable.”  -Logan Smith

Heaven gained an amazing angel this week.  Logan David Smith, Son of Dale and Olivia Smith Jr., unexpectedly passed July 9th in Bel Air, Maryland. Logan was born on June 16, 1996, in Williamsburg, Virginia, grew up in Killeen, Texas, and was living and working in Maryland at the time of his passing.  He is survived by a loving family including his parents, Grandparents Dale and Annie Smith, David and Pranee Horton, Aunts and Uncles, and Cousins.

Logan had a number of things he enjoyed, camping, beach-going, fellowship, and working. In his free time, Logan found peace in reading, writing, and drawing. He was a passionate speaker and youth leader at multiple conferences and he enjoyed adventures in many cities exploring other countries and meeting people.  Everyone he has met is better for knowing him.

The people who have had the great fortune to know him, understand he had a huge heart, a   willingness to be unapologetically himself, and very outgoing. These qualities, combined with his incredible sense of humor, made him easy to love and attracted many dear friends.

When remembering Logan, many of his friends recall him always being there and helping them through their darkest times. His eagerness and ability to put others ahead of himself was unparalleled and his use of humor was a bright light in one's hour of despair.  While he leaves behind loving family and friends he also leaves a legacy of kindness, unconditional love, and compassion for all others. Although he faced some demons he truly embodied everything that is good in this world.

His hugs were legendary, when you received one, you knew you were loved, they enveloped you and his smile would dwarf the brightest facet in any diamond.  He loved unconditionally, lived life in a way many people only dream of, and has in his short life, lived experiences totaling two or more lifetimes.  He was unabashedly bold and unique and he embodied those qualities as they reflected the best parts of his loving personality.  Just as Seneca said, “As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.” His memory will continue to shine bright like a Diamond in all our hearts and his life was quality over quantity exponentially.

His warmth, caring open and overall loving spirit will be dearly missed by all whoever came in contact with him.
