LILA BOWE LUCADO

Lila Bowe Lucado, 94, of Salem, VA., went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020. Lila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful volunteer to many missions in Salem and surrounding areas; Mrs. Dorsey’s clothes closet, Community Christmas store, RAM house, and WMU to name a few. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and loved all the lifelong friends she made there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Lucado Jr.; her parents, John and Anne Bowe; her brothers, Darden, Johnnie and George Bowe; her sisters, Dorothy Dennison Unroe and Edith Martin; and granddaughter Karen Ann Lucado.

Surviving are her loving children, William Allen Lucado, Jane Lucado Groton (husband, Tom), John Steven Lucado (partner, Linda Ives), Mark Edward Lucado (wife, Susan), and Bruce Albert Lucado (wife, Teresa); her grandchildren, Lila Jill Groton, Chad Lucado, Chase Lucado (wife, Megan), Nick Lucado, Taylor Lucado, Andy Lucado (wife, Rachel), and Samantha Lucado (husband, Scott);  and great grandchildren, Julian Higginbotham, Ashton Higginbotham, Piper Higginbotham, Jayden Tai Lucado, Jakson Lucado, Kash Lucado, Waylon Lucado, Sydney Kate Thomasson, and Grace Thomasson; as well as numerous dear nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th, 2020, at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. COVID-19 restrictions will apply.  A graveside service will be held in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, VA., on May 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Alan Combs of First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Lila’s memory to Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet 825 South Colorado St. Salem, VA 24153 or to Bethel Baptist Food Pantry 1601 South Colorado St. Salem, VA 24153.
