LESTER O. CRAIG JR.

Lester O. Craig, Jr., 70, of Roanoke County, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 in Salem, Virginia.

Lester is survived by his wife, Betty Craig, of Roanoke County, VA.; step-daughter, Melissa “Missy” Conley, of Salem, VA.; brother, Michael Craig, of Stuart, VA.; special friend, Jan Ferraro, of Patrick Springs, VA.; and niece, Brianne Bartone and husband, Lenny; and son, Callen of Thomasville, NC. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Craig, Sr.; mother, Lucille R. Craig; and brother, Billy Wayne Craig, of Stuart, VA.

Lester was born October 13, 1949 in Stuart, VA. to Lester Craig, Sr. and Lucille R. Craig.  Lester had many careers during his life but his most loved was his last one, selling Turf Products to golf courses which of course he had to play golf with all the superintendents whom he called his friends.  He was passionate about his Scottish heritage and enjoyed helping others.  Lester loved to cook and enjoyed baking for everyone.  Lester had an unmatched sense of humor and jokes.  Lester loved his “Man Cave” for woodworking projects with his friends.  He was a fan of NASCAR, especially the Wood Brothers Racing Team. 

Lester was a Master Mason of Williamson Road Lodge, Kazim Shrine Temple, member of the Roanoke Elks and Blue Hills Golf Course.  Lester also served as an Elder at Colonial Presbyterian Church and was an active dedicated member.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, 1 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.  The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Covid-19 guidelines will be followed regarding face coverings and social distancing at all services. 

A reception will be held at the Kazim Temple, 628 Campbell Ave. S.W., Roanoke,VA  24016

The memorial service will be live streamed starting at 12:55 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020 for those who choose to join us from home.
