Kenneth "Ken" Dwayne Tate

Kenneth “Ken” Dwayne Tate, 53, of Roanoke went into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 27, 2018.

A native of Roanoke he was the husband of Barbara “Barbi” Barnett Tate, who survives and the son of Edgar Early Tate, Jr. and Geraldine Ada Garrett Tate, both deceased. Ken was a member of Green Hill Church of the Brethren. He was a motorcycle enthusiast but most of all Ken enjoyed and loved dearly his family and friends and put them above everything.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Maria Trystan Tate; his son Raiden Tanner Tate; three sisters, Patricia Ann Tate Wade and husband Frank, Barbara Jean Tate Randolph and husband Randy, and Judith Elaine Tate Johnson and husband Pete; his brother, Michael Lynn Tate and wife Betty; his dear friend and former mother-in-law, Lois Weeks; his father-in-law, Bobby E. Barnett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rhonda Weeks Tate; and mother-in-law, Peggy Stafford Barnett.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, 1330 E Main Street, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from Noon until 2:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held in the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Salem following the visitation on Wednesday, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Green Hill Church of the Brethren.
