December 7, 1970 ~ March 3, 2023 (age 52) 52 Years Old

Tribute

Kenneth William Shoemaker, 52, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023 while in Hospice Care at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center, Rocky Mount, NC. Prior to his short stay there, he was a resident at Pine Crest Adult Home in Danville, VA. Ken is now made whole and at home with his Lord and Savior and reunited with many family members including his mother and father.

Born December 7th, 1970, he was the son to William T. "Bill" Shoemaker and the former Sharon E. Welshans. Growing up, Ken had lived in a few towns in PA, including Jersey Shore, Bloomsburg, and Harrisburg with his parents. He graduated in 1989 from Harrisburg, PA area. During his young adult life, Ken had helped his mother with her cleaning business and soon ventured out with his own cleaning business. Ken loved all kinds of music, but Elvis was his favorite singer. So much so, that he was an Elvis impersonator at a Pocono resort for a few summers. He was very talented, and the audience loved his acts! A few years after his father passed away, him and his mother moved to Eden, NC for some peaceful country life in 2009. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, motorcycles, muscle cars and enjoyed the company of the numerous pets he had throughout his lifetime. He also loved art and enjoyed drawing, painting and chalk art, just like his mom. Ken loved his soda, candy bars and eating pizza. He definitely was a junk food junkie!

He was preceded in death by both his father and mother; as well as both paternal and maternal grandparents; Perry Sr. and Pearl Shoemaker; Paul V. and Vera M. Welshans; as well as his uncles; Perry Shoemaker, Jr; Neil F. Welshans; and Charles A. Welshans.

He is survived by his Uncle Jerry and Aunt Roberta Shoemaker, Williamsport, PA; and his Aunt Judy Shoemaker, Goose Creek, SC; as well as several cousins; Victoria Console, Lakeside, CA; P.R. Shoemaker, Moncks Corner, SC; Matthew Shoemaker, Pittsburgh, PA; Michael Shoemaker, Williamsport, PA; Cheryl Outwater, Pearl River, NY; Scott Welshans, Montgomery, PA; Kimberlee Schreiber, Jersey Shore, PA; and Michele Tice, Jersey Shore, PA; and a brother-in-Christ, Eric Dowling of Eden, NC.

Ken was a man of very few words, he didn't have many friends and had his quirks. Thanks to his mom and dear friend Eric, who would pray for him when Ken asked, we know he is walking those streets of gold with His Lord.
