Joy belonged to the Neighborhood Ladies Luncheon Group and was their computer person maintaining the social calendar and events of the group.  She enjoyed going to the many different restaurants for lunch throughout Roanoke with the Neighborhood Ladies.

Joy enjoyed two groups of Red Hat ladies, the Red Hats of Roanoke and the Sweet Tarts. Joy was Queen Mother of the Red Hats of Roanoke and she enjoyed leading this group of ladies. Her skill with the computer kept both groups up to date and organized with upcoming activities. Joy truly enjoyed spending time with each of the ladies and would often retell of past events such as Christmas parties.

Joy was an avid reader from a young age and could always be found with a book nearby. She would never buy a book because she could get it at the Roanoke County Library. Joy was an avid supporter of the Roanoke County Library. Joy always had a list of reserved books. The Roanoke County Library was looking/holding for her and she was always reading a stack of checked out books waiting to go back. In lieu of flowers please support the Roanoke County Library in Joy's memory by donating a book or two or cash donations in Joy's memory.

Joy worked at Lewis Gale Hospital for more than 20 years at the Roanoke Valley Psych Center. As the Head Nurse, she led her staff and cared for patients with ease. Joy always had time for staff, friends, patients, and caregivers. Joy kept in touch with her friends until her death and she even reconnected to old friends in the last months.

She has left so many friends, too many to mention. We thank each of you for your help, support, and you’re caring during my mother’s most difficult times.

In lieu of flowers please support the Roanoke County Library in Joy's memory by donating a book or two or cash donations in Joy's memory.
