James R. "Bobby" Custer

James R. "Bobby" Custer passed away on September 25, 2023 at his residence. 

A native of Virginia, he was the husband of the late Brenda Custer and the son of Guy and Ida Mae Custer, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy Custer Hutchison and Janet Custer Scott.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert Custer, Jonathan Custer, Tommy Crotts and wife Lisa, and Renee Deck and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Eric Blankenship and wife Chelsea, Melissa May, Channing Smith, Justin Deck and wife Samantha, Zachary Deck, Lori Howe and husband Emerson, and Anthony Crotts and wife Shelby; great grandchildren, Kylie and Makenzie Blankenship, Landon and Laikan May, Brody, Garrett and Carter Deck, Juniper, Henry, and Authur Howe, and Addison and Gavin Crotts; and special friend, Ruby Lucas.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home in Salem at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery on Newport Rd, Catawba.
