March 19, 1933 ~ February 28, 2019 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Jewel Lemuel Hilton, 85, of Salem, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019.  He was born March 19, 1933 in Interior, Va. in Giles County.  He was the son of the late Fred McClure and Claudie Kessinger Hilton.

Jewell was a veteran of the Korean War and an active member of #4920 V.F.W. Post.  He was also an active member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church and a Scout Master of troop #352 for 12 years.  He retired from G.E. after 32 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Amy Blevins and husband, Danny, Cindy Collins and companion, Jay Patton, all of Salem; a brother, Fred, of Roanoke and a sister, Janet Carey and husband, James, of Brandon, Fla.  Also five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and many family and friends in Giles County.  Jewel loved his little cabin in Big Stoney Creek where many memories were made. 

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Lotz Salem Chapel with Reverend Ben Lockhart officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.
