JERRY LYNWOOD REED JR.

Jerry Lynwood Reed, Jr., 64, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 5, 2020 in Salem, Virginia.  Jerry was born in Roanoke, Virginia and has resided in Salem most of his life.  He loved NASCAR (Dale, Sr.), football (Pittsburg Steelers), playing pool, golf, and he coached recreational sports in Salem for many years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding his Triumph Motorcycle and being the best “Pops” to his grandkids.  Jerry was hands down the “Best Dad” in the world!

He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Reed King “Mama Reed” and his father, Jerry Lynwood Reed, Sr. “Dy”; his best friend, David Epperly “Epp”.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julie Ulrey Reed, of Salem; daughters, Sarah Reed, of West Virginia, Nicole Reed, of Salem; brother and best friend, Sam Reed and wife, Audra, of Roanoke, VA.; niece and family, Lauren “Cheeks” Austin and husband, Brad, two great nieces, Callie and Paityn, of Salem; nephew, Jerry Reed and wife, Lindsay; great- nephew, Wyatt and two great nieces, Paisley and Everleigh, of Roanoke.  Jerry loved and treasured his grandkids, Nataley Reed Compton, of Salem, Emma Price, of Salem, and Jaclyn Hall, of Salem.  His buddy, Bear.  A son and daughter he never had Jerry Williams, of Roanoke and Traci Hartberger, of Salem; stepdad, Daniel “Leroy” King and stepsister, Teresa King, of Salem; six aunts; and two uncles, of Roanoke; as well as all of his friends who were family to Jerry.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, 2 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem, VA.

A reception will be held at 436 Westland St. (Beverly Heights) Salem, VA  24153 after the service.   Please bring chairs and beverages.
