James Preston Taylor, Sr.

James Preston Taylor Sr. (Pete), 88, of Salem, Va., passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021. He was born in Ellett Valley to loving parents, Styrle I. Taylor and Anna I. Taylor (Raines).

He was preceded in death by his two loving sisters, Mary Frances Whitesell and Lynette Reed; and brothers, S.I.(Sonny) Taylor and Charles W. (Bill) Taylor.

He is survived by his son, James P. Taylor Jr. (Pete) and daughter-in-law Evangeline Taylor; granddaughters, Emily Taylor and Madison Taylor; and longtime friend Susan Sublett.

Pete attended Andrew Lewis High School and enjoyed spending time with his many lifelong friends from the Salem Va. area. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Missouri. He enjoyed trips to the beach, camping and motorcycling. He was a good father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by many.

A graveside service only will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1pm in Sherwood Memorial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike Salem Va. 24153.
