James Harold Radford, 81, a resident of Gambrills, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 03, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer. James was born on September 27, 1935 in Covington, VA and was the son of the late James C. Radford and Ruby E. Hale Radford.

James was married to Judy for 59 years, and for 37 of those years, he worked for the Department of Defense as an Electrical Engineer He was well respected, a leader and an innovator who made a positive impact on everyone he met. He loved to challenge his mind through creative means such as building things, solving hard problems such as brain teasers, and keeping up intellectually with current techniques and advancements.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Radford of Gambrills, MD; four loving children, James Kevin Radford (Lori) and Gina Madison (Jeff) both from Gambrills, MD, Dawn Lampman of Waxhaw, NC and Jason Radford (Kristie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; devoted brother, Bernard Radford (Sharon) of Gambrills, MD; eight cherished grandchildren, Krystle, Jimmy, Jessica, Cody, Anna, Hayden, Faith and Grant; nine adoring great-grandchildren plus many loving family and friends. James is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Hackworth.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 08, 2017 at the Church at Severn Run in Severn, MD with visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the service at 11:00.


Interment will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Abbey Chapel, Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, VA.
