Irene Wells Wheeler Hunt, 95, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Joseph C. Thomas Center at Richfield in Salem, Virginia. She was the daughter of Owen and Alzora Wells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands; Henry E. Wheeler and Frank C. Hunt; son ,Jerry E. Wheeler; and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by; one son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Carole Wheeler; three grandchildren, Angela, Betsy, and Stacey; three step-children, Larry Hunt, Lance and step daughter-in-law ,Shirley Hunt, and Frieda Hubbard; two step-grand children, Matthew and Megan, as well as multiple great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Irene was a long-time member of the Salem Church of Christ, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class for many years. She retired from serving for many years as an office manager of Pepsico Frito-Lay in Roanoke.
Her family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at the Joseph C. Thomas Center at Richfield, as well as Dr. Syed Haider of Valley Internal Medicine for their compassionate care and kindness.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Monday, October 7 at the Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. A graveside service will follow at noon on Monday at Sherwood Cemetery.
