September 03, 2023, Harold Edward Bayne, 87, of Salem, VA, went to be with the Lord.
Harold was born on October 25, 1935, to Clifford and Jessie May Bayne in Gadsden, Alabama. Harold served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, during the Korean War. In 1963, he started work at General Electric in Salem VA. He retired from General Electric after 35 years of service in 1998.
Harold loved his family more than anything and took great pride and honor in taking care of the love of his life for 64 years Mary France Bayne. He always protected her with love, ushering her into the church or store with his arm on her back. He also loved his son and grandchildren and bragged about them every chance he could get. He recently was blessed to meet and spend time with his great-grandson Lucas Bayne and was so happy to be able to spend quality time with him.
Family and the outdoors were Harold’s passions. He loved to hunt and fish from the time he was a little boy growing up in Alabama and Texas. He loved spending time with friends and family in the woods or on a stream. He often shared his memories of fishing and hunting with his son, grandchildren, and friends. Harold and his son have amazing competitions for who could catch the biggest and most fish, and he would usually win.
Harold loved the Lord, and his life showed it. He was a member of the Kairos prison ministry and had a heart for bringing the lost to the Lord. He also served as an usher at Fellowship Community Church in Salem, VA. Every night Harold would read his wife a section of the Bible before they went to bed. Anyone who met Harold felt God's love through him.
