George McClelland Mann, Jr
George McClellan Mann Jr. “Rusty”, of Roanoke Virginia, was born March 18, 1930 in Mullens, West Virginia to Sue Slusher and George Mann Sr. Rusty ended his time on earth November 10, 2020 at the age of 90. He passed very peacefully in his home with the love and care of two of his daughters and the remarkable and gentle care of Good Samaritan Hospice.
Rusty was a Korean Veteran, railroad retiree, Mason, Shriner, and Harley enthusiast. Some of the family’s fondest memories were cheering him on as he rode in many parades as a member of the Shriner Motor Patrol.
He is survived by daughters, Victoria(Tom) Mann Bender, Sheila (Tracy Sledd) Franklin Mann and Helen Elizabeth Mann; Son, James Alvin Mann; grandchildren, Benjamin McCelland Mann, who he helped raise, Elizabeth Cherie Bender, Caroline Lee Bender, Lauren Taylor Sledd and Adam Fitzgerald Sledd.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and the love of his life, Nancy Lee, his wife of 63 years.
At Rusty and Nancy’s request a cremation will take place and their ashes spread together at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in the spring of 2021, while flowers are in bloom, with an intimate gathering of family and friends.
