Elmer Lee Smith

Elmer Lee Smith, 78, of Salem, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 10, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father Clarence E. Smith and step-mother Margie Smith, mother Evas Marie Woods and step father Junior L. Woods and ½ sister Patricia Woods Blanchard.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 31 years Mary Juanita Smith, step–daughter Lorrie Ann Conner (Richard), step-son Michael David Zimmerman, two adopted children Mike and Denise, his beloved grandson Chad Winston Conner and wife Lauren, precious granddaughter Courtney Elizabeth Conner, grandson Joseph Michael, brother Dale Wayne Smith, and wife Doris, sister Nell Smith Fuller, ½ sister Faye Woods Radford, step-brother Roger Warren and wife Gayle, and many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was an Army Veteran and proudly served his country. He was retired from Overnite Transportation with 35 years of service as a CDL driver.
A special thanks to the staff at Lewis Gale and the Salem Rescue Squad for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ridgewood Baptist Church are appreciated.
The visitation will be from 6-8pm on Tuesday, March 13th, at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem.
The funeral service will be at 1pm Wednesday, March 14th, at Lotz Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Kanode of Ridgewood Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
