Elaine Claire King

Elaine Smith King of Salem, Va. passed away November 17, 2022 at the age of 76 in Salem, Virginia.  Elaine was born April 15, 1946 in Salem, VA to Ethel Rettinger Smith and Ralph Smith, and grew up in Salem, VA.  She graduated from Roanoke College and received her Masters degree from Radford University, where she later practiced as a school psychologist. 

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children Christopher Michael King (Tara), Rangeley Beau King, 1 grandchild (Lacie King), as well as sisters Barbara Smith Guthrie and Jean Smith Clark, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Elaine was an avid reader and loved to write poetry.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and she will be dearly missed.   A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Saturday, December 17th at 11am EST at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, Va.
