Dora Jean “Cricket” Whitley, 75, of Salem, went to be with our Lord with a pink sunset peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
She was predeceased in death by her father, Harvey Allen Whitley, mother, Elizabeth Price Whitley Harden; brothers, twin brothers, Johnny and Ronnie Whitley, Jacob “Jake” Andrew Whitley, Bobby “Bob” Michael Whitley, Howard “Howdy” Rufus Whitley, Allen “Pete” Harvey Whitley.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her life partner, Johnny Sloan; sister, Mary Garrett; son, Daryl Wade Hight; daughter, Gena M. Hight Cleveland Palmer; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
Cricket was a child of God Heaven and Earth. She loved to feed her Spirit with the word and truly walked in faith. She also loved gardening, reading, animals and cooking. She worked as a seamstress, dry cleaning and laundry.
The family would love to send a special “Thank You and Blessings” to the ladies with healing hands from Heartland Hospice, Karen, Lakesha, Penny, Carol, Sherry and anyone else that we may have forgotten.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Sherwood Memorial Park with Reverend Andrew Draughn officiating.
