DORIS MLDRED ROUPE

September 7, 1926 ~ April 14, 2018

Doris Mildred Gibson Clement Roupe, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul Gibson and Grace Reese Gibson; her husband, Victor Roupe; her sister, Opal Johnson; brothers, Minor Lavan , John Darden Gibson; daughter, Brenda Diane Clement Poey.

She is survived by her grandson, John P. Poey; four nephews; three nieces; numerous cousins; great nieces and great nephews and friends.

Doris worked for Valley Packers until the company closed and then she worked at Salem High School as a custodian until she retired. She loved working with children at church, loved to read and memorize the scriptures from the Bible. She was a fun story teller and loved her family very much and enjoyed going to church and visiting friends. Her childhood was filled up with a wonderful time playing with her cousins. They were like sisters and shared great times together growing up.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Tom McCracken and Pastor Ken Nienke presiding over the service.

Many thanks to all of her family and friends that visited and shared with Doris during her last days here on earth. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was anxiously awaiting the time when she could go home to Heaven. We will miss her.
