Dennis Y. Flannagan

Dennis Y. Flannagan, 83, of Salem, Va., passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was born September 11, 1935 in Washington County, Va. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Samuel Flannagan and Jessie Rebecca Moore Flannagan; siblings, James S. Flannagan, William R. Flannagan, Elizabeth Daniels, Charles G. Flannagan, Hugh L. Flannagan, Raymond S. Flannagan, Mabel Harris, Robert K. Flannagan, Margaret L. Flannagan, and stepdaughter, Bobbie Jo Pettus.

His surviving family includes his beloved wife and best friend of over 37 years, Rebecca (Becky) D. Flannagan; brother, Hobert R. Flannagan and wife, Sammie; children, William D. Flannagan, L. Diane Jackson, Dennis Y. Flannagan, Jr., Bruce E. Flannagan and wife, Debbie; step-children, Robin S. Fishback and husband, Don, Robert (Trey) Miles III and wife, Ines. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by all for his loving generosity and loyalty.

Dennis retired from General Electric after almost 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer and all around sports fan in addition to his primary passion of Bluegrass music.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. Visitation will be held prior to the service between 10:30 and 12 Noon.
