David was born on July 6,1946 in Alleghany, Virginia. He had multiple careers throughout his life, including serving in the United States Army.  The one he found most fulfilling was Animal Control Officer in Craig County. David was an avid animal lover and would do all that he could to help an animal in distress. He left behind his dogs Heidi and Penny who will miss him dearly, he always made sure they got a bite or two from his plate at mealtime.

However, the one thing that David will be most remembered for is his love for his family. David had the biggest loving heart.  We all have our special memories spent with him throughout the years. What David enjoyed more than anything was spending time with his family. If anyone needed anything they could always depend on him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A few of the things that he enjoyed in his last days were sitting on the front porch in the evenings talking with his grandson Mark prior to his passing. He enjoyed his Saturday morning coffee and talks with his sister Martha. David enjoyed all of his visits from family and friends just sitting and talking with him. He enjoyed birdwatching from the living room window, especially his hummingbird that came to visit him daily.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their kindness and care.

Family will receive visitors from 12-1 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Funeral will follow from 1-2 pm. David’s ashes will be buried in the Fridley family cemetery.
