Camille Felice Petrino was a beautiful mother of three, a loving sister, devoted daughter, and friend to all she met. Camille was the embodiment of being too good for this world, thus she was taken from us too soon at the age of 48 on April 7th, 2022.
Camille has joined her son, Vincent Hughes; her father, Vincent Petrino; grandmother Carmela Petrino; as well as many other friends and family members in heaven.
Surviving are her three children Pamela Hughes, Julianne Hughes, and Derrick Hughes; her mother, Felicia Petrino; her sister Suzette Sclafani; brothers, Vincent Petrino and Angelo Petrino; as well as countless family members and friends.
Camille was born on December 1st, 1973, in the Bronx, New York, to parents Vincent and Felicia Petrino. Camille graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in legal studies. She went on to have a vast career in helping people in the social work field. No matter where Camille went, she would always find a way to nurture, love, and care for anyone she met. Camille never viewed this as work, rather it was her way of changing lives by dedicating countless hours of love and understanding to all, who she made an extension of her own family.
Camille loved her career, but above all else, she adored her family. She fought for her family fiercely, supported them through every change, and always offered a shoulder to cry on. Camille always welcomed anyone to her home with open arms, a warm smile, and chicken cutlets. No matter who or where you were, Camille was always able to make anywhere feel like home. She had a radiant smile that shined brighter than a thousand suns and could be seen from miles away.
Although Camille may have adopted many as her own she devoted her life to her three children: Pamela, Julianne, and Derrick. To say Camille was an amazing mother would be an understatement, though some say her way of parenting was unconventional, she raised three strong, beautiful children with whom she developed significant and powerful relationships with. She ensured her children were surrounded by laughter, comfort, and more than enough love. Her children will always be thankful to call her not only their mother but their forever best friend. They didn’t argue much, but when they did it was always about if they loved her more. Just as she loved them they will love her to the moon and back forever and always.
The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home Salem, 1330 East Main Street Salem, from 2:00 -4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday April 13, 2022. A private mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Transfiguration with Rev. Father Stephen McNally. Her family asks that no one wears all black as Camille always said black was for funerals and this will not be a funeral but instead a celebration of her beautiful life. Please wear any color you would like.
