Bonnie D. Hoskins

Bonnie Dowell Hoskins, 83, died on Tuesday, 13 November 2018, at the Brookside Rehab and Nursing Center, in Warrenton, Virginia after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Hoskins was born on 18 October, 1935, in Mountain City, TN., to Sherman G. and Lizzie Dowell. She married Ralph L. Hoskins on 21 March 1972. They raised one son, Mark A. Hoskins. Mrs. Hoskins moved to Roanoke, VA., in the mid 50’s and was employed at Eli Lilly and later Elizabeth Arden for many years until she retired in 1992.

Bonnie was almost always smiling and loved to travel. She was lucky enough to visit places like Australia, China, Russia, Europe and many locations throughout Central America and the Caribbean. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to get autographs of race car drivers.

She is survived by her son, Mark A. Hoskins and wife, Robyn; brothers, Bill and Roy Dowell; sister, Goldie Hensen.

The family will receive friends Friday, 16, November, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home, 1330 East Main St., Salem, VA. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 17, November, 2018, 10 a.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel. Interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, VA.
