Bonita Mae Kelley, 73, of Roanoke, passed away, September 20, 2021 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 21, 1947.
She retired from teaching physics in Roanoke County at Cave Spring High School in 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arnold Kelley and Mary Lucetta Cyphers Kelley. She is survived by her sister, Deborah C. Minter; and her nephew, William J. Minter. Also surviving are her sister-of-the-heart, Linda L. Ankrom and very special friends Linda Harrison and Derwin Hall.
A small private memorial service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Due to Covid, a recording of the service will be available Sunday, September 26, 2021 at www.lotzfuneralhomesalem.com for those who wish to attend in the safety of their homes. The service will be officiated by Dr. Naomi Gill, associate minister of Positive Impact Ministries.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to her favorite charities, either Angels of Assisi or The Rancho De Chihuahua.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Roanoke Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit all of whom were incredibly compassionate, especially Dr. Erikson, Dr. Neil, and Dr. Mamdouhi.
Bonnie was loved by so many throughout her life. She was generous and kind to all she met. She will always and forever be loved and missed.
