Benjamin Lee Philpott Jr

Benjamin Lee Philpott Jr., 73, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born March 7, 1948 in Roanoke, Va. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Elsie Philpott, a son, Shawn Simmons and a great-grandson, Matthew Flannagan.

His is survived by a large family, including his ex-wife, Becky Shay; Sons, Jimmy Philpott and Kevin Simmons (Candie); Daughters, Jennifer Strupe, Cheryl Benedict, and Julie Paxton (John); Brothers, Roy Philpott (Bunny) and Kenneth Philpott (Terrie); Sister, Dorothy Campbell (Steve); Nephews, Gary Wingo, Barry Wingo (Jamie), Donald Wingo (Kristen), and Roy John Philpott (Abby); Granddaughters, Angel Jones (Ron), Korie Flannagan (Brian), Tayler, Kailey, Linzee, and Kera Simmons, and Riley and Kalin Paxton; Grandsons, Troy Philpott (Helen), Maxx Philpott, and Brayden and Caden Simmons. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ben spent most of his life as a concrete finisher and was well-known for being a hard worker. When not working, he enjoyed relaxing with friends and family. 

The family will host visitation on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, Va. A graveside service will the held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 12pm at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke, Va.
