Bobby Mowles, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17th.
Bobby’s wife Frances passed away on August 28th of this year, only 3 weeks prior. There is joy in knowing that they are together again.
Bobby was born in Salem on November 7, 1932. He lived his entire life in South Salem except for his time spent in the service during the Korean War.
Bobby was also preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Etta; his step-father, Lester Sheets, who came into Bobby’s life after the death of his father; and his son, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Pollard and her husband, Bob; grandchildren Matt Pollard and wife, Andi and Tracy Hale and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Mason, Claire, Maclin and Graham; nephews Gene and Forrest Beeco; and dear friend Larry Spencer.
Bobby was employed by the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for over 30 years, and he was a faithful and dedicated member of First Christian Church in Salem for over 50 years. When he was not in the yard with his leaf-blower or listening to Johnny Cash records, he could be found at his favorite place, Sanibel Island with his family and later with the assistance of loving friends Mary and Curtis Fuller.
Above all, Bobby will be remembered for his sweet spirit and kind heart. Although he was a quiet man, he had a tremendous impact on the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May he rest in peace.
