William “Bill” Everette Miller, 68, of Roanoke passed away on March 13, 2024.

A native of Pennsylvania, he was the husband of the late Ella Capehart Miller and the son of Everette Linden Miller and Myrtle Cash Miller, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Susan Capehart; brother, Harley Keen; brother in law JD Smith; parents in law David and Betty Smith and Roy Capehart.

Bill was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force. Bill was a lifetime member of the Clearbrook Volunteer Rescue Squad, former member of Fincastle Rifles Camp of The Sons of Confederate Veterans and reenacting groups Chews Battery and the 28th Virginia. He had fond memories of all his reenacting buddies and the times spent around the campfire or in the field. Bill was a huge history buff, talented musician and singer who could play anything with strings and loved to play and sing for his daughters and grandchildren. He had many wonderful memories of playing music with his father-in-law David and meeting with other musicians to play bluegrass and old time music.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rebecca Sirry (Drew) and Kristina Miller (Mark Jones); ex-wife, Gloria Miller; grandchildren, Destiny (Michael), David, Dale, Andrew, Makaylynne and Charlotte (father, Ashe); sisters in law, Dianne (Charley) and Sandy; nephews, Clyde and Mikey; nieces, Dianne, Missy, Jamie, and Lisa; those he loved as children, Troy, Tiffany, Jodi and Buddy; Logyn who he loved as a grandson; special friends Mike McHaffey, Jerry Altizer, and the Gray family, Gary, Zack, and Katie.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial with military honors will follow in Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Clifton Forge.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debra with Amedisys Hospice and Kiara, Julie and the staff at Brookdale Salem and Lewis Gale Hospital.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sons of Confederate Veterans or the National League of POW MIA Families.
