WILLIAM HENRY MAY

William Henry May, 88, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Slusher May; his son, Douglas James May; his parents, Arthur and Lois May; and brothers, Ernest, Norwood, Arthur, James and sister, Corrine.

He is survived by children, Cheryl Jones (Jim), Ricky May (Terriann), Anita Robarge (Dennis); grandchildren, Leslie Moses(Cory), Benjamin King (Maxeen), Alan May, Nathan May (Amanda), Kristan May, Katie Robarge, Emma Robarge, Cole Robarge; great-grandchild, Tucker May; brother, Charles; and sisters, Josephine; Joyce; Sharon; Linda and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a radioman for the United States Navy from 1947 to 1951. Bill loved to drive. Having worked for years as an independent truck driver, he got to see much of the United States and could not wait to share those discoveries with his family. Family vacations always included a road trip. The man did not know the meaning of a “staycation”.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Lotz Salem Chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.
