Patricia “Pat” Ellen Gearhart Abare Toler passed away February 12, 2017.
Born on March 13, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pat was raised in the Indiana Masonic Home for Kids in Franklin, Indiana. From the hard life she lived, she believed in in honesty and saying things unfiltered and like they were which gave her the love and respect from those that meet and knew her. She did things her way. By the way she talked and cussed, you never forgot the sailor she was. Pat served in the United States Navy which inspired her 3 children to serve in the Military.
She worked for over 30 years at furniture plants in Bassett, Virginia.
She was also a Certified Nurse Aide and worked many years at the Kennedy House Nursing home in Martinsville, Virginia where she made 2 lifelong special friends in Dot Walker and Jackie Petty.
She was preceded in death by: Parents: Edward Hardesty Gearhart SR and Martha “Maggie” Olive Zook Dillion; Brothers: Jack Gearhart and Richard Gearhart; and Son: Scott Edward Abare.
Survived by: Brother: Edward Hardesty Gearhart JR; Daughter: Barbara Ann Abare Clites, husband Roger and granddaughter Caitlyn Abare
Son: Charles Roy Toler JR, wife Katrina and granddaughters Molly and Makaylee; Daughter in Law: Gretta Abare and grandson Charles John “CJ”.
A Memorial Service to be held Monday, February 20, 2017 at 12 PM in the Chapel at Richfield Nursing Home located at 3615 W. Main ST Salem, VA 24153. Burial with Military Honors will be at a future date at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
