Died August 8, 2017

Myrian Jane Czarnecki, 96, died peacefully on August 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Susan Lasker (Alan), Jan Czarnecki, and Judy Pierce (Ed); five grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Jessica, Vicki, and Alex; and three great-grandchildren, Franklyn, Parker, and George. Surviving brothers are Frank Lee Pendleton (Evelyn) and Bernard Pendleton (Alice) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Emil Czarnecki; her twin sister, Myra Belle Pendleton; her brothers Lewis, James, and Harold Pendleton; and her parents, Della Taylor Pendleton and Charles Pendleton.
Jane graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1939. In 1943, she joined the US Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) and was stationed in Boston, Massachusetts, at the Chelsea Naval Hospital. She received additional specialized training at Smith College. In 1948, she was honorably discharged following her marriage to Emil Czarnecki, who remained in the Navy for 20 years. Theirs was a life of extensive travel and relocations with their three daughters; their many homes included diverse places such as The Florida Keys, Turkey, most of the New England states, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, where they ultimately retired to the hill where Jane had been born. In her later years, Jane’s great joy was spending time with her vast extended family and friends in the Salem and Roanoke County area. She especially delighted in visits with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
