James Bell, Jr.

James Bell Jr, 80, of Salem passed away on March 20, 2024, at his residence.

A native of Salem, Virginia he was the husband of the late Rhonda Bell and son of James Sr. and Goldie Bell, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Darnell. James was the owner and operator of Automotive Machine Shop. He enjoyed fishing, wildlife animal watching, following NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Virginia Tech Hokies and Salem Football; but nothing superseded the joy he had spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Cameron Bell and wife Shannon, Kristie Bell Ruff and husband Billy, Vanessa Harvey and husband Rolan, and William Hodge and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Abbie, Morgan, Millie, Sarah, Vivianna, Kaylee, Billy, Rachel, Connor, Robert, James, Billy Elizabeth, Layne, and Joshua; great grandchildren, Gessica, Harlow, Aspen, Rowan, and Estrella; niece, Teri Bailey; best friend, Roy Patterson; and dog and cats; Country, Hank, and Mama.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10:00 until 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to Good Samaritan for the care rendered to James Bell during his time at home on hospice care. The care and attention given to their father and pawpaw made his passing much easier and for that they are eternally grateful and appreciative. A special thank you to Clara, Sonu, Tammy, and all the on-call nurses.
