Harry Rexford Wooten, Jr., 86, of Roanoke County departed this life on September 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda Lucille Wooten (Blankenship); and daughter, Diane Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Shirley (Grant) and Beverly (Wayne); five grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Christopher, Matthew and Stephanie; sisters ,Ethyl and Ann; brothers, Roy, Richard, Ralph and Danny; several great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relations and friends.
A professional trucker by trade Harry or Bud as he was fondly referred to lived a life of service to his fellow man including a stint in the United States Navy, many years in the Royal Order of Moose, the Lion’s Club, Mason’s Cove Volunteer Fire Department and as a Masonic Veteran.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday October 2, 2017 at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. Service and interment will take place at Chestnut Grove Church in Buckingham on Tuesday October 3 at 1 p.m. with Masonic Rites at graveside to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Harry’s memory to any of the afore-listed service organizations.
